DeMontel Ranch, Castroville
LOCATION: The De Montel home place is located 1 1/4 miles northwest of Castroville. To reach the family cemetery, take Mexico Street to CR 477 (River Road); north on CR 477 to CR 466. Left on CR 466 about 1/4 mile to gate on the left side. Follow west edge of field about 1/8 mile. Cemetery is on the right at the base of low hill.

Buried: At home near Castroville, Aug. 4, 1882, Rev. Pfennig. (Born Oct. 24, 1812) Spouse: Louisa W. Scheidemantal nee Pingenot. Children: Charles, Olga, Edward, Pauline, Oscar, Robert and Mary.

|In 1971 Lucy Davis conducted a survey of this cemetery and recorded the following additional graves. It is believed that they were either unmarked but known from family tradition (related by Mollie De Montel to Lucy and Ann Davis) or marked with wooden markers that have since disappeared.|
