Spinney Cemetery
Spinney Point,
Austin, Brome County, Quebec
Location:This cemetery is located on private property in Austin, Quebec.
Notes: Mark Spinney, a sailor from Portland, Maine, and
his wife, Betsey Austin, daughter of Nicholas Austin 1st, settled on a piece of land that became known as Spinney Point, overlooking
the water and Owl’s Head Mountain. Often early pioneers chose to be buried on their own farmland, and this is how the Spinney
Cemetery was created.
Because this tiny cemetery is on private property, I have not visited it. My submission is taken from previously
recorded data.
