Location: This cemetery is located beside the old Milan Road (Route 214) about one half mile northwest of Milan on property originally owned by Alex McIver.
At the route 214 junction the coordinates are: Lat: 45° 36'
02"N, Long: 71° 08' 33"W
Exact cemetery location: Lat: 45° 35' 50"N, Long: 71° 8' 29"W
At the time it was opened it was alongside the main road from Milan to Stornoway. The cemetery for the most part has returned to nature but about 6 tombstones are visible among the trees and ferns. It is acccessible by footpath from MacArthur's Corner, right across route 214 from Dell Road.
To preserve the memory of these early Milan settlers, the Lewis Cemetery Association designed and erected a monument bearing the names of most of those buried here. The monument has been placed at the Gisla Cemetery, on Gisla Road.
The names presented here are taken from that monument. There are an estimated 30 individuals buried here. The list below has 12 names of the early settlers. The last burial was in 1947.
I transcribed this cemetery in July of 2005, from the monument placed in the Gisla Cemetery. Susan Nutbrown, Gary MacDonald and I visited the McIver-Beaton Cemetery on August 9, 2011 and I have photos of all legible monuments.Leslie NutbrownTotal records: 14
